Happy Holidays everyone. 2008 is finally coming to an end. For some it was a year to remember, for others the last few days can't seem to go by fast enough. To everyone out there I wish you the best in 2009. And remember:

Nothing tastes as good as fit feels!

There, I couldn't resist from saying it. Now go enjoy the last few days of 2008 as best you can. Have fun and be safe over the holidays.

    New Years Resolutions

So I have to admit I'm not a big fan of New Year's Resolutions. Let's face it, they don't last. It just makes the gym a mad house in January for all the people that have been going year round. But if your are sticking with tradition and you want to give it a try keep these tips in mind:

Come up with a plan immediately. If you want to lose weight or change something don't wait until Febuary to start thinking about how you are going to do it.

Write down your plan and tell somebody. Getting it down on paper makes it more concrete and having someone else know can help you stay on track if you start to fade.

Be realistic and take baby steps. If you haven't hit the gym in 2 months thinking you'll go 6 days a week is unrealistic. Be sensible and if you do make a mistake view it as a lesson for growth.

Get moving, action precedes motivation. Initiate even the smallest of actions and you pick up momentum. You'll begin to realize 'hey, this isn't so bad' and it will be a lot easier to keep moving forward, and stay motivated.

    A little about aerobics . . .

Whether you bounce up bright and early or you take your time to rub the sleep out of your eyes start 2009 off right. Kick off the New Year with some aerobic exercise to get moving and start burning calories.

The word aerobics came about when the gym instructors got together and said, "If we're going to charge $10 an hour, we can't call it jumping up and down." ~Rita Rudner

Aerobics: a series of strenuous exercises which help convert fats, sugars, and starches into aches, pains, and cramps. ~Author Unknown

The word aerobics comes from two Greek words: aero, meaning "ability to," and bics, meaning "withstand tremendous boredom” ~David Barry
