First of all I want to remind everyone to check out the new September class schedule as some classes will change. I'll post if there are any additional changes due to limitations in daylight. I also wanted to welcome all the new people to Boot Camp this month. You've brought amazing weather and added to the dynamics of the group. Finally, congratulations to everyone who ran in the Hoboken 5K Against Crime and Drugs on August 4th.

    Eating Late

Is it bad for you to eat late at night? In general the answer is no. What's more important is to break down your daily caloric intake into many smaller meals throughout the day. This provides your body with a constant source of energy and helps prevent extreme hunger that can lead to poor food choices and binging.

    Exercise and Eating
Ever wonder if you should eat before working out? Ideally you should eat something because it will provide your body with much needed energy, especially if you haven't had anything to eat in 3 or 4 hours. The amount you eat however depends on how intense you plan to workout. For lower intensity workouts you can probably get by with a regular meal. If you plan to run or do high intensity, high impact exercise you will be better off having a smaller meal of more easily digestible foods.

    My exercise terminology

In an effort to clear up any confusion over frequently used exercise terms I have included a guide sheet to help you with personal training and boot camp sessions.

    If I say . . . . . . . . . I mean
    rest . . . . . . . . . . . .move on to the next exercise
    3 more . . . . . . . . . .5-6 more
    jog . . . . . . . . . . . . sprint as fast as you can
    30 seconds . . . . . . .45-50 seconds
    water break . . . . . . take 20 sec. to get water if you can
    just 2 more . . . . . . .I lost count but you are almost done

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
